Hey, wondering if anyone can help with a strange noise that just started a while ago. I have a 2003 sunfire 2.2L eco. A while ago, I had winter tires put on and maybe two - three weeks after started hearing a sound like a couple pieces of styrofoam rubbing together. Well, that's the best I can think of to describe it at the moment anyway, might be a little different. The sound sounds like it's coming from the front driver side tire/area, but I have no idea what it might be. Any suggestions?
Oh, and I'm not sure if it's related at all, but I was smelling a hot smell for a while, don't really notice it anymore, but not sure if it's stopped doing so either. It was like a hot metal smell.
Im thinking two things, either snow/ice etc, or wheel bearing.
Thanks for the suggestions, could be ice I guess. But from just glancing at it I can't really see any. Been meaning to drive up some ramps and take a look from underneath, but it's too bloody cold.
Checking the wheel bearing would require it to be in a shop would it not?
