ok on sunday i practiced taking off my stock intake manifold so i could uderstand how to take it apart when i install my HO IM. after making sure every bolt was on and tight i test drove to make sure there was no leaks. yesterday, monday night after i got off at 10pm, and my ets off light came on. i thought it was because of the autotrans kicking in after a while causing my shifting and rpms to shift differently. then this morning at 6am i drove the car and the ets off light came on immediately and when i drove the car i started to realize that whenever i opened the throttle, even a bit and let off to coast the rpms would drove very drastically down to about 500rpms and then jump back up again to about 1000 or so rpms-normal coasting whatever that is. im wondering if after a few hours of drving it if it would appear if i have a leak somehwere? i just came back from lunch and made sure everything on my throttle body valves were tight and they were. i cant check and retighten the bolts off the head cause i dont have a garage with the proper tools. anybody would know what it might be?
You said everything but your vacuume lines, Try that next.
El Fuego ( the unstable ) , sorry i meant vacuum lines on the TB-my fault there. i have to check my a/f gauge and see if im running too lean or what not, havent the to focus on looking at it as much. i'll double check the lines and see if there's a leak somewhere, but its just strange that the rpm just drops gradually after letting off the throttle. what 'could' be signs of this?
that is weird, usually the symptom of a vacuum leak is a HIGHer idle...it almost sounds like your throttle plate is snapping closed too far, and choking the motor out before the idle air control can make up for it, allowing it to bog down.
Depending on how much stuff you took apart, make sure that your idle air control valve is working right. While you had your stuff apart (I'm guessing you had the throttle body off) did you clean anything (i.e. with carburetor cleaner)?
If not, you might try taking it apart again and cleaning things out with carb cleaner. Also, double check that all of the vac lines are hooked up to the right ports (shouldn't matter, but just in case)
You might try getting the codes read to see what the computer thinks is going on, it will definitely help.

Sleeper style, they don't see it coming that way.
ok i'll give it a look with what i got, thanks guys/gals
Umm, RPMs are supposed to drop when u let off the throttle, lol ,j/k.... not really.
anyway its probably a vac leak, if you check everything and it still does it, try a little vacuum grease on the end of all your hose connections to make sure its sealed and no air is getting by.
My suspicion lies with the ets system. My wife's old Cavvy would do that. When the ETS would engage, the RPMS would drop significantly, presumably to regain traction. I wonder if your system is faulty, causing this to happen even when traction is present.

id say its a coincidence, and its a wheel speed sensor, but then you'd get an ABS light... hmmm what about the kickdown cable from the tranny?

^kickdown cable? after driving for abit the pcm seems to relearn itself and the ets off light disappears. would it be then cause of the cold? i lifted my hood and looked the engine over while it was on and i noticed that the fan was blowing and it was hitting the cone filter alot. i know that the throttle body can only take in so much, BUT considering how cold the fan is blowing on the fan the IAT might be on?? but if so then wouldnt the CEL also go off? btw it did ONCE already, havent seen it come back on since. odd...i think my cav is possessed.
