i just had brake pads replace about 600 and everytime I have to brake fast (yellow light, pedestrians) I can smell burnt brakes easy sometimes with windows up and even did it ALOT with the old pads which were pretty worn down like to 1.5mm. the brand of brake pads are thermo quiets. any ideas to this UNNORMAL smell?

I would want to say its normal, its park of the brakes breaking in. Did you happen to change your rotors too? if you did, maybe the protective coating wasnt cleaned off (using brake cleaner), and thats what is making the smell when the brakes get warm.
Well if you hammer on them hard and the are only the stock style brakes then yeah your gonna get that. The brakes on our cars are not that great and if your hard on them they can fade REAL fast. I'd say the next time your due for brakes check out a brand called EBC. You can pick them up a Pep Boys and are carbon fiber and kevlar and the braking ability of them are way better then the stock ones. They fit directly like the stock pads did so you don't need to replace everything. They are a real good reasonably priced alternative to factory pads.
Good Luck

Other good brake pad brands include raybestos, Hawk, Friction masters, and Morse. They are all about the same price range. BTW, if you get EBC green pads, dont smell them, or your hands after handling them, they smell like dead fish.
The smell BTW, is normal for pads with a low rating. And do not buy ceramic pads. Though they do work well, they eat rotors for breakfast.

Never realize they smell like fish. Wait..... Why are you sniffing brake pads?

Kidding ! Couldn't help it ! Anyway you are right about those ceramic pads tho they do kill rotors that and the ones I had years ago on my car made it sound like an
MTA bus when I stopped.

I bet they forgot to clean the silcon off of the rotors or smeared gease on the pads by touching the friction surfice.
