The biggest problem is the union. At one time it was the very best thing to happen to this country and now all its doing is threatening the businesses with strikes if they they don't them what they want. Problem is the companies can't make enough money to suport itself and the unions demands. They wonder why their is less demand for the spark plugs? Well now that they are supposed to be good for 100,000 miles then they don't need to make as many so they don't need as many workers.

Its sad but its true the unions of today aren't helping the members at all, rather they are hurting them by forceing the companies to chose between lay offs or going under themselves.

Jackalope, without discussing the issue (about
unions), and only commenting about the quality
of AC spark plugs, this article seems to confirm
that NKG is most likely making the platinum
plugs that we use.

If GM feels 'forced' to outsource these parts,
NKG would be hard to beat for highest quality.

Personally, I'll stay with AC brand, but will
not hesitate to use the cross-over to NKGs.......

Sorry if I wasn't clear. The fact that Delpi chairman Robert Miller states in the article that they just can't compete against the cheap labor in China would go allong with the union issue. But I do agree that NGK's are VERY good plugs and it wouldn't supprise me at all if G.M. outsorced the manufacture if its plugs to them. I mean why not? They have an excellent track record and can produce a product that is just as good for less money.
Win, Win situation IMO.

Costs them less to buy and import the plugs then deal with the union and there-by reduces the cost of the part to consumers. Like I said win, win.
