Hey my head gasket is leaking. No coffee colored Oil yet but if anyone has experience in changing Head Gaskets, i could use some advise.
Thanks
sorry, 1998 Z24, Manual, 216000kms.
Had a mechanic-friend help me with my '92 2.2 head gasket. Not too complicated, just tedious bolt and part removing. Write down what you do and what screws/bolt go with each step. Make sure new gasket surfaces are CLEAN! Took us all morning and done by mid-afternoon. Grab yourself a Chilton's handbook to guide you. Hanes is OK for interior work, but I find Chilton's is better for drivetrain and emissions info.
I'm going a headgasket replacement and head repair job tueday.

thanks guys,
let me know how the replacement went!
the 2.4L is a good bit more in-depth than a 2.2
the 2.4 requires you to remove the wiming chain and timing chain cover. there are more gaskets to replace, and more bolts to torque, generally most ppl end up pulling their engine out to do a head jobon a 2.4L
REMEMBER TO REPLACE HEAD BOLTS TOO!! they are torque to yield bolts meaning they are one time use bolts.
generally gasket kit from Advanced is around $200
head bolts are $20-30
plus fluids
will be doing full re seal on my engine when i have the money, i may make a step by step proceadure complete w/ pics when i do so
THANKS FOR THE TIPS " sunfirepower97" I WILL TAKE PICS OF MY WORK TOO.
