Atleast i think thats what it is. When i start the car sometimes in the morning and i hold the brake something rattles like it knocks. Kinda like an engine knock or someone knockin on a wood door. Then since about a week ago it sometimes when i stop completely and hold the brakes it knocks to untill i start to move again. So tonight i hit some ice comin in my drive way and the tires slid across it while i was on the brakes and when i tires would like grab alittle then slip then grab and slip it would knock again. So i stoped and it was knockin and put it in park and it stop went back to Reverse and neutral nothing till i put it in drive and it started to knock again. I listened carfully and it sounds like its comin from the master cylinder area either inside or outside i couldn't tell. Any have any clue what the hell this is????

ABS is working, i noticed it when the weather got worse too.

so your sayin that all that ratttling is from my ABS?????

thats what it sounds like to me...Thats usually what the abs sounds like when its working... When your on ice and your trying to stop it will make that sound and your brakes will pump (slip & grab like your were saying). if your driving on a dry road it shouldn't be making that sound.

but why is it doin it when im completely stop tho?

nope the ABS light isn't on. the only time the ABS light came on was when i was messin around while holdin the brake took it up to stall and took off. then the light was on till i turned the car off then never came back on. That was like 3 months ago tho...

Sounds like your ABS pump is malfunctioning.

im having some brake rattle.

but mine only rattles for a second or two when i first start applying the brakes. and doesnt always do it. almost seems like it could be soem slip and grab abs or sorta sounds like maybe some cable rattling under the car. i really am not sure.

how about a tranny mount since its only when its in drive???

The only knocking i have is a section of frame seperating when i accelerate. Being fixed real sooon.

first its a rattle.. then its a knock.. so which is it a constant knock? knock knock...? and keeps going while in drive? without driving sounds like a tranny problem to me like its trying to engage or something in the tranny and its slipping or something because it goes away when u drive have u changed fluid serviced tranny at all?

it sounds like its pretty cold there what oil are you using?

Ok my car is doing the same thing. When i break my rattles and rattles and rattles more. If u apply more pressure to the breaks, i get 3 or for popping noises all the way around the car like the struts are gonna break off. What is wrong? Rotors? Struts? All of em!? I need help!

ok mine is starting to sound more liek poping and its feeling liek maybe its air in my lines.

sometimes at about half brake i get some poppign sounds and loose a bit of brake pressure for each pop.

dont have $ to get it checked till friday
