DRLs wont shut off

ok, i got my car back the other day from the shop and after i drive home at night i notice my DRLs are still on in park, next day i check them, they are off. drive for a little longer they stay on in park again. now they wont shut off in park. i have a 96 sunfire, anyone know the problem?

Get a wiring diagram. Where do they get there power from? My guess is the circuit is wired somehow so when the car is in P they shut off, could be a fault in that wiring someplace.

Wish i could help, mine's a manual, but ive seen them take a second to shut off when you turn the low beams on. Happened last week a couple of times, not really sure why, maybe its the cold.

thats what i was thinking, we're checking it out soon. just wanted to see if anyone else had some ideas on what to look for

Try removing the removing the shift boot (a little difficult to do without breaking a clip).
Inside there is a connector. It may have come loose or is faulty.

Pull up the parking brake 1 click and see if they go out. They should along with the rest of your exterior lights when the headlights are on. they should go out even in park. The PRNDL switch may be a little off also. When they stay on in park push towards the dash on the shifter to see if they go out. Goodluck. -Phil
