Hi,
Here is the situation, my wifes 2000 Sunfire has decided that it doesn't want the Drivers side door to lock.
It will not lock, it actually seems like there is something seized. I have good connectivity in the wires, but the door will not lock with the key in the door, by the keyless remote, or by the manual interior button. Has anyone else had this problem?, what is the best way to accomplish this repair? there is not a whole lot of room in the door to get at the module.
Do you suppose that i could just remove the power module for the door lock and then the lock will work manually?, because as it is the drivers door will not lock at all.
Last Gm I will ever buy.
Thanks
Geo.
Well for starters, does it move at all when you hit the button? If so, try to push the button and then move the lock manually on the door, it may be unlocking the lockthat is already unlocked, if that makes sense to ya. If not, it may be the lock actuator itself. Mine has the same problem sometimes.
nope no movement, everything is seized up tighter than the hubs of hell. will removing the electric component help free up the mechanism?, or is it an integrated part of the locking unit?
Thanks.
nothing works right on this car, i bet it wouldn't even burn if i set fire to it.
it may. you may also try taking the door panel off and spraying the moving /stuck parts with some wd-40 or the like to try to free it first.
thanks, already soaked the unit completely with wd40. guess I will have to take the whole thing out. and replace it.
Thanks for all your help.
