when started my engine acts normal without any weird noises, at idle it sounds perfect, however once the car begins to move a "rattleing" noise begins and increases with rpms. is my engine knocking? just got an oil change. my 3rd gear clutch went out awhile ago and i havent been driving it since except like a mile down the road to the gas station. is this noise the engine about to go or is it something from the trans making noise? any help would be great!
check your exhaust. could be a heat sheild or your cat....that's what i'd check first.

sounds like its coming from the engine
sound is tricky to get by that alone sometimes. did you check the exhaust?

my car makes a noise only when the pedal is BARELY touched
does the noise only happen when you barely touch the gas pedal?
mine does sounds like "pennies in a jar" but when i but the pedal down another .5 of a inch or more the noise is gone.
probably something a bit loose. i wish i new lol
no it sounds like its somthing wrong with the head, what part of the car would make a rattle noise all the way throught the rpm range?, sounds like its knocking, what can i do?

i had one other problem where it make that noise all through the rpms and it was my spark plugs being super loose....could take them out be hand.
took me months to find that.
make sure it is not something that simple.
can you tell me how to do that? or anything else to check?
pop the hood and the first thing you see is 2.4 twin cam, where you see that you see 4 bolts
take those off and take off the cover
and you will see you spark plugs all lined up.
but you need a torque wrench to make sure there in spec.
if you dont know how or dont have th right tools you should get someone who knows how to....
yah i know how to do that because i sanded it down and painted the IDI cover, is all i have to do is take them out and put them back in correctly?
sorry for not responding but you would want to make sure you torque them down with the correct torque specs because you may tighten it to much or too little
if you do it too tight i think you piston might smack the spark plug (correct me if im wrong)
but if you do it too little (like my mechanic did to my car) the spark plugs will loosen (due to the compression and combustion stage) then that when you get the noise.
or that ticking noise could be even you timing chain or tensioner....
try to find the torque specs to tighten them down correctly and get a torque wrench.
if it still ticking next would be on my list is timing chain and tensioner, then if it still ticks it could be your valves
it really sucks when then engine "ticks" cause it could be so many things
