Ok, i have a 2002 cavalier, and my battery was JUST REPLACED 3 weeks ago...brand new battery, and put in at advanced auto parts. There are only 56, 000 miles on my car, yet it won't start. We tried to jump it...and that didn't work. Once the key is turned to turn on the car, it won't even turn over or anything! could this be my alternator? or my starter? and i have a remote starter..could that have anything to do with it? I just wanna try to figure this out before i have to take it to the shop......thanks anything will help

First off to be honest Advance and Autozone sell junk. DuraCRAP from Autozone my moron friend brought one lasted four months dead again. Use AC Delco, or Interstate. Both are realy good brands. Remember you get what you pay for. Buy a $30 battery, you get a $30 battery, buy a $70 battery you get a $70 one.
Secondly alternator testing and stater testing need to be done with a machine. With staters failing they will crank its just the armature wont engage the flywheel.
What is your static voltage on your battery?
Are the cables clean and acid, no corrosin on them?

I checked everything from corrosion to ground cables, to the battery cables themselves...everything seemed ok- i had to have AAA jump start it..and I took it up to advanced auto parts where i got the new battery installed like 3 weeks ago..and they checked the battery and alternator on a machine and everything was fine- the car is running now..but not sure why it stopped that one day?

possibly either the pos or neg bolt wasnt in fully enough for an electrical connection. when i had my battery changed a few months back(cant remeber the brand) by my mechanic, he didnt tighten the pos bolt all the way. so i didnt know that during that time, the car drove fine for a couple of days then out of nowhere it wont start nor crank. i had a friend of mine look around and finger tightened things around the battery and its wires and found out about it. just my 2 cents though, it might be different on your end. good luck.
