Sunfire Gt 2.4' Header Heat Shield?

is it ok to remove the heat shield as long as the screws are put back so that there is no leaks?

Its a heat shield. You can remove it, nothing will leak.

Thank you, however if you found the large version in another forums, you will see how dirty my engine bay was when i took that pic.

Thank you, however if you found the large version in another forums, you will see how dirty my engine bay was when i took that pic.


it looks better than my 2.2l it was rearended a wile back butits fixed and i got a gt with the left over money.. so im new to the 2.4l world haha

Well take a lookie, there shouldnt be any hoses and wiring going arcoss the heat shield.

the power steering goes there but i moved it a little so it might not now

I removed that when I had to get at the bolts to the water neck for changing the t-stat on my Z24 (which is on the bottom of the engine stupid design). Anyhow I pitched it. Also ditched the hood liner, and the front plastic hood latch trim piece. Nothing wrong with mine as in burning hoses or anything. I don't know if I put the bolts back into the exhaust manifold or not, I probably did but I have the heat shield went in the dumpster. Eventually I'll get a header such as pace setter or OBX, or maybe swap in an L67 GTP motor....
