Just replaced my o2 sensor now i need to get the check engine light reset how do i do that, im going to try just unplugging the battery for a bit if theres another way please let me know, thx
If you haven't anyone around with at least a budget-type scan tool, then unplugging the battery for at least 15 minutes will reset the PCM. Your car will also need to relearn itself. A short time idling, then quick drive with various speeds (legal!) and loads.
I tried unplugging the battery for over an hour and its still on *sigh* will it stay on for a little while till i drive for a bit or should it be off right when i start the car? its still the same sensor and i replaced it correctly and it was brand new could something else from my exhaust be triggering that sensor?
pull your PCM fuse for a bit and put it back in, don't have to reset the radio every damned time then
it should go out after several series of runs when it no longer senses the fault
Sometimes your local Advance Auto has a scaner and they let you use it for FREE
That's what I did last time, and I did it myself for FREE.
my buddy has a scanner i could use but im more worried about the code still throwing cause my gas milage sucks from it so thats why i was thinking maybe it could of been something else that caused that code to come up i'll try driving it a bit more see it it goes off =\
if your mileage is really sucking you may have damaged the sensor, or bought the bosch universal instead of OEM replacement
before anyone starts in on it some have had issues with Bosch UR and some have not but the less mutilation in the electrical system the better in my book
I took a long road trip today to foxwoods (about 150-175 miles there and back) on a full tank i had just over 1/4 left when i got home so the milage seems to be back to normal still getting a light though and as for the brand i actually got Denso for the precat but i do have bosch for the after cat but thats not the code thats getting thrown so i guess i just need the light removed
It will reset after it sees the sensor working correctly for X amount of cycles.
Unplugging the battery will just shut off the light on 96+ cars, not reset anything. You actually need to reset the PCM, or just drive it till it sees it enough time of running correctly.

ok its been like 5 days and the CEL is still on do i need to have the code erased?
Sounds more like you still have a problem. I know you don't wanna hear that but that's what it sounds like to me. I hear alot of people complaining about the bosch sensors. Lot of problems with them. I'd try getting OEM sensors if the code doesn't clear.
If the CEl isnt going off, you still have a problem.
What code are you still throwing specificly.
I had a simular probelm, i had a rag got in my intake tube and it got sucked into my tb, i did not know this until i took it to a grage and they removed the rag, and after that it was still running a bit @!#$ty, so they reset my computer or something, some code was coming up, they said the rag may have damaged a sensor, not sure wich one, if it happens again they said i may need to have that sensor replaced, now my car has been acting strange when it rains out, so i either have a bad sensor, coil, or plugs, not sure; but you should just take your car in and get the scan tool put on her and just fix what is wrong; i know it sucks not knowing what is wrong.
Good luck man.
