This Iz All thanks to my faulty hood latch and pins which released my hood while i was on the highway..... now i'm without a windshielf sunroof or hood untill i can afford to fix er up....
well it's ok cuz now this gives me a chance to change it up abit and add some much needed changes to the overall look of my car
... i'll post pics when the car is back together......
Holy Krap man, all that ffom a faulty hood latch. That sucks man, I didn't think that a hood flying up like that could do so much damage to the car. Well, hope it gets better for you, and at lest you are safe and you didn't hit anybody at all.
I am what I am and it is what it is.
I am the 2nd most untrusted person in the world next to a lawyer, welcome to our dealership, may I help you?
YOUR lucky it didn't kill you! I've heard of that happening and it usualy ends very badly!
It sucks about your car but it can be fixed at least your not dead.
Good Luck with it tho.

ya thanks guys.. for real about the not being dead part.. well i wasn't too concerned about myself that night more for my gf's life she was in the car with me... thank god there weren't many other cars on the highway that night.. well i never thought something soo severe could happen from something as little as a faulty latch but i guess that teaches us all a lesson.... if it ain't 100% safe don't take a chance cuz u'll regret it in the end.... for the new hood sunroof and windshield it cost me about 600$ and that's not counting wat it will cost to get that dent pulled .. and it's a huge dent as you can see clearly in the picture lol well i'm going back 2 stock for the time being and next summer i think i'll just re-do the whole front end the way i want it... well i'll post alot of pics when it's all done till then ..... well do something till then cuz it'll be awhile hahaha ...
As long as neither of you got hurt. Bet ya had to change the old shorts tho huh? If anything will make you crap yourself this is it. Just glad your both O.K. Good Luck with the fix.
Oh and BTW you'll need whats known as a "PORT O POWER" to shove that roof back up. Its basicly a little hydralic ram with different attachments that you put on. Drop the head liner and use it with some 2X4's both on the roof and the floor and you should have it fixed in about an hour at the most. Then just pop in the new glass and straighten the body work.
Good Luck man.

If you have hood pins AND a latch....... how did that happen? I've had a hood fly up on me before. It did the same exactt thing and was in my old cavfire. It came through the sunroof and hit me in the head. I had a huge lump on my head and I got very dizzy but I satyed concious long enough to pull over, kick my hood in, latch it down and go home. I passed out at my house.
I didn't have a hood latch at all and I forgot to put my pins in.
Afterward I tied a cable to the new hood and left the pins out to see how fast I had to go for the hood to come up. It starts out really slow at like 60mph.. lifts maybe an inch... after that it shoots up like a rocket. I left about 3" of play in the cable..... it hit the tension point so hard that you could feel it jolt the front of the car up. Like I said.. it starts slow though.... I don't see how on earth it could ever get enough pull on it to break the hood pins... even if there was no latch.
Sorry about what happened anyway.

do you ever notice that the ones who talk the loudest have the least to talk about?
rofl, I was on the golf course the other day, and some lady in her POS honda was driving down the road. The hood latch came undone, and I watched the hood slam onto her windshield... one of the funniest things I've ever seen.
^ ^ ^ lol... Sounds kinda scary to me. One hell of rush tho im sure.
Wow, that's some messed up sh@#!!! I stopped reading this post halfway through to check my hood latch, my car seems to be the poster-child for the maint section...
Good thing there wasn't a cop around too. I had a grand am that blew the motor pretty violently. While I was waiting for the tow, a cop pulled up and told me to pick up the pieces of my car engine from the road or he was going to cite me for littering. It wasn't even a modified car, just old and rusty.

I've had a hood fly up at me. I was coming to a stop. Bout' 40 mph. When I pressed the brakes the hood came up, and slammed on the roof/ windsheild. Didn't do anything except dent the hood. I had to hammer the hood strait to get it to latch. Then I bought a used hood, for (i think) $50.
That was on an 89 tercel.
hey guys... thanks for all the support n everythin well i've got the front end pretty much stock again and i'm going to eventually do a custom front end as it progresses i'll have pictures ok...
thanks again guys.....
I've had it happen to me numerous times in my jeep cj's. On them there's the hood latch up front, and 2 tiedowns on the sides. Well, sometimes I'd forget to do the tiedowns, and wouldn't you know, wham. It would only put a crease in my hood, never broke the top, the winshield frame or winshield thank goodness, but it scares the piss out of you and is hard to drive off the road :~

that's not funny. Glad you and your g/f are ok
if that ever happens to my car, I'm not sure if my insurance would cover it
