A friend on my local car forum ran his '02 Cavalier LS Sport (Eco, 5spd) out of gas and now it won't start at all, here's a quote from his post on our forum-
Quote:
My car is screwed. I was on my way to work this morning and nearly out of gas so I was just hoping to make it to Kiwi's Convenience gas station in Texas Corner's... when I turned into the gas station my car just died. I figured I ran out of gas and got incredibly lucky because I made it into the gas station parking lot. So I push my car into the pump spot and put gas in and now it doesn't start. checked a lot, still broken....
Any ideas for him? I'm clueless. Thinking he could have overworked and killed the pump.
Damn!! internet going down!!
Lets try this a 3rd time! He very well may have killed his pump if he runs it low at lot as the pump being submerged in gas is what cools it. Or he may have just sucked up a bunch of crud from the bottom of the tank. Replace the filter and while its off put a hose ove the line that comes from the tank run it to a bucket and turn the ignition on see if its pumping if not double check all the fuese befor eyou go replaceing the pump
Good Luck
