Clogged / Dirty Cat????
Thursday, November 17, 2005 5:35 PM
...had some wrench monkeys who should have never had their hands on my car port and reinstall my stock im...somehow messed up with my fuel injectors and were, for a brief time, spraying RAW, UNBURNT FUEL THROUGH MY EXHAUST. As in fuel and black smoke spraying out my muffler. Nice. Since, theyve fixed the problem, and related or unrelated, it feels as if the car is hesitating/missing, especially at low rpm. Im thinking either:1 the plugs were fouled after the car was running hella rich, or 2: the cat was clogged (or both.). I filled it up with 93 oct. and ran some oct boost/fuel inj. cleaner to try to clean out the manifold/head/cylinders, hoping it would also help clean up the cat...it feels a bit better. any thoughts/advice? If it IS a clogged cat (no rotten egg smell as of yet), and ideas on how to clean it? thanks in advance...

...oh yeah, I have emissions inspection in the area. But I also had a gutted cat once, and my car didnt run as well. the lack of backpressure killed my low end. but thanks for the advice, regardless friend.

anyone else?

If its not totaly dead they sell a cat cleaner stuff that you dump in your gas tank. Its at like advance or pep boys, never tried it myself but when I ran the commercial sales at
my advance store their were several shops that swore by the stuff. I know its not expensive so for a few bucks it may be worth a shot.

Good Luck

But hey if its an ECOTEC and your still running the stock cat I'll sell you my old one. Its in perfect condition and only had about 20,000 miles on it when I replaced it with a 2 1/2 inch hi-flow one. Never had a single CEL either so I know its perfect. Let me know if you need it.

Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.

I appreciate it, jackalope, but I have the LN2. An ecotec would be nice, though. Will check out the cat cleaner...thanks!
