window motor prob
Thursday, November 17, 2005 9:29 PM
well today i go to roll down my window and it sticks like almost halfway down. i can jiggle it and it will go all the way down, then it wont go back up. i jiggle it some more and it finally goes back up, but it wont go past about 3/4 of the way up......is the window motor going bad, or is the window just off track? thanks all......

Yeah my driver side window was doin the same thing and the window was on track and I was getting full voltage at the motor. Replaced the motor and everything is peachy now. Make sure you have someone hold the window while you work on it, I thought I had mine stuck in the up position while I was putting a bolt in and the window came crashing down, I'm lucky as hell it didn't break. Pretty easy replacement though, just drill out the pop rivets, then attach it again with speedclips and bolts, or nuts and bolts with some threadlock and you'll be good.

ok, its not off track.....i had time to play around with it......and it will work for about half way down, then i have to wait like 20 seconds and then i can roll it the rest of the way down.....so it is the motor eh? thanks man.....

yuppers you will have to wait and eventually it will work again and eventually someday it will just stop completely... mine was doin that for about a month before it actually quit, so if you dont have the 40 bucks right now to get another you probably have some time

That's GM quality right there pure FUBAR. But alas the rocket scientists at GM made the motor "Easily Removable" and by that I mean it is welded in place. You are going to need a Wizz Wheel to remove the unit and replace it.

Pure FUBAR? LOL! Let's all face Detroit and bow 3 times to honor GM achieving a state of Pure FUBAR!!!

I didn't think they could do anything 100%. So does anyone really know why sunfire's and cav's idle rough? I know, the same engineer who designed the power window motor mount also worked on the pcm. It was all done on Friday, they just whipped it together so they could leave early and hit the bar.

pure fubar... I have a new favorite phrase!
