problem with turn signal
Monday, November 07, 2005 11:50 AM
Wel recently I have been having a problem with my drivers side turn signal. the back no longer works (the light works fine it just doenst blink) but the front blinks crazy fast now like almost double time. Also the indicator on the dash is blinking and making the clicking noise twice as fast as it does when I go to make a right turn.( meaning that the right turn signal works fine and is still perfectly normal.) Anyone got any suggestion of ideas? Thanks in advance.

Okay first off it blinks twice as fast because there is less resistance in the back, less resistance = more current flow, to decrease resistance its the exact oppisite add some sort of resistance, like a light bulb.

Anyways you said the light works so it just doesnt blink. Well the light works, so we know the fuse is good, we also know you have a complete circuit, so you have power and ground, also by it working we know the contacts are good.

See the blinkers usually operate by the switch, opening and closing, open and closing, completeing the circuit, then breaking it, then connecting again. So I would test the switch, let me know what you find out.

Rob S If his front right turn signal is working, the dash indicator is working, but the rear is not flashing, iIT IS NOT THE SWITCH. The bulb could be a two element bulb and the one for the turn signal is burned out. If the switch was bad, no turn signals would work.

rich 222 Try replacing the rear bulb and see if that fixes your problem.

What I don't understand is you guys come up with the most complicated things to check for. Why not start simple first and THEN work to the complicated stuff? There were many answers thrown around, most of them wrong with the symptoms he was describing. Heck I'm not suprised someone didn't say check your antifreeze level or something like that.

LANMAN I agree with you on this one. That is why I suggest to replace the bulb first. The simple things is what I always suggest first.
