Thernostat Housing Leaking

As you all probably now by now I have a 96 Sunfire with the 2.2L. I noticed that my thermostat housing is leaking (the part where the lower radiator hose goes into). I checked the bolts to make sure that they were tight and they are tight and the hose is tight. Can I put Permatex sealer on the housing to stop the leaking?? That thermostat housing is a pain to get to and the rubber o-ring probably slid when I put the housing on. Can I put some Permatex sealer on the o-ring to stop it from sliding??? Thanks in advance for your advice.

Yes. Some permatex on thermostat housings is always advisable. Been doing it for 30 years.

Hard to get at??? It's right there. 2 5/16 or 8mm bolts. Just take it off and check the o ring around the t stat.
