Okay so i just noticed that coolant is coming from the exhaust manifold right where its connected to the flex pipe. i must have not tightened the bolts all the way but thats beside the point. its coming out the back and spitting it all over the block. what can it be? i had a blown head gasket recently changed it out and coolant all in my oil. thats how i knew i blew the gasket. i just did an oil change yesterday and it was all fine. i just checked my oil today and its still fine.
can my head be cracked or my block? i looked at it when i had the head off. i didnt notice any cracks or anything unusaul.
thanks,
nick
When you re-installed the head on that new gasket,
there could have been some debris that kept the
mating surfaces from making a good seal. This is
common.
If this scenario is true, you will have coolant in the
oil, even though you haven't yet detected.
Solution: pull the head again, make sure the mating
surfaces are clean the next time.
Did you have your head pressure tested? Thats how i found out the head was blowin my Sunbird. Sadly, the new head was remaned, and still shotty, luckily its under warranty, and maybe in the spring i can replace it personally instead of someone else.
Well 2tyt4u , Sound like you got a hair line crack on youre cyl head. Most cases people over look on this, Some times you can get away from buying rebuilt cyl head. Ive seen before getting the cyl head pressure tested and still having it fail. this is what you want to do, First of all let youre car cool off undo the rad cap off you resivoir, let the car idle until it gets to normal temp, look at the resivoir area and see if you can see and bubbles beening made in that area. If so you got a leak or crack in youre cyl head or HD gasket is leaking, I would look at those first. Is youre car over heating as well? Losing coolant fast?.
Good Luck
ya my car just started over heating the other day. i replaced the thermostat but its still over heating. i have been losing coolant also but i thought it was cause of it coming out my exhaust.
really i dont know what to do. i just want to drive it into a brick wall.
ya so i just seen i have coolant in my oil again. took the head off and took it to a machine shop to get a pressure test done on it. havent found out yet if its cracked but it is warped he showed me. its gonna cost me 175 if theres no crack. becaue they have to mill it and fix to plugs that are cross threaded. 75 just to test it, 50 for the mill, and 25 each for the plugs
whats my chances of the block not being messed up. does it take alot to mess them up. the guy told me not to feel bad cause they do like 3 heads a week there from cavys
