Some time ago the quick disconnect tabs on my Sunfire broke when trying to disconnect the fuel filter for replacement. I've checked time and again, but so far no one has had an answer. However, on a recent search to see if anything new was known, I saw several posts referring to a repair kit, such as
here. Does anyone know what the deal is with these kits and perhaps have a part number for Advance Auto Parts or Autozone? Thanks for any help everyone.
Well, I ended up cutting mine off. I bought about 12" of 3/8 fuel line and 4 fuel line clamps.
2 clamps on the hose around the new filter, and 2 clamps to hold the line on the nylon fuel line. No leaks, no problems.
I'd reccomend using the NAPA kit first though.
Autozone and Napa has one, but I have no idea on the part numbers. I did this in mid june. I beleive it is a 20 some dollar kit...from Napa..

I've used them a lot, you just need to be patent and hold the end in really hot water, I recommend about 2-3 minutes.

So, let me see if this is right, you just cut off the damaged quick connect end.
Then, you put the cut-off end in the hot water & it slids on to the repair kit? Is that right?
I'll check at Autozone tomorrow (if they're not closed for the hurricane, that is).
I found these at AZ, but the guy behind the counter was no help. "Pick the one that looks right", he says.
Anyway, I got the car all jacked up & then realized the one I had (5/16" line) seems to be too small. Its made by Dorman, part # is 800-057; says its for GM/Chrysler, but as I said it seems to be wrong.
Its kind of weird there are 3 of these lines that run from/to the fuel tank. The other 2 look like they are about 5/16", but this one that the fuel filter is on seems a little bigger (3/8" maybe?).
Anyway, if anybody has a specific part # - I'd appreciate or at least where I can find out. Thanks.

Zach above gave you the right answer it's 3/8ths.
For info the three line are:-
1. Supply -From the pump
2. Return -to the tank
3. Vent usually goes to a carbon filter (Front right hand side of engine bay on a '93)
Hope this helps

Sorry. I guess I looked past that - thought he was talking about using regular rubber fuel line. I wasn't sure if it was the same.
Anyway, after some searching I found the right part number on the Dorman web site. The correct part # for the 3/8" nylon fuel repair kit (for '96 2.2L) is 800-058, in case anyone else needs it.
Fantastic Jeff E! Glad you finally found the correct part number. If you have installed it, let us know how it went for your.
