I'm stumped
Tuesday, November 08, 2005 7:20 PM
First off here's the problem with my '97 Z24:

When I hit a hard bump (r.r. tracks, pot hole, etc) while I'm on the brakes I get a noise that sounds like it's coming from the front pass. wheel. It almost feels like something with the ABS, when the noise happens I can feel the shake in the brake pedal. Any suggestion will help. O-yeah a turned a corner little bit fast and my P.Brake light came on for about 5 secs. Any ideas on that as well, I'm thinking it all related.

Alot is new in the front end; struts, cv, rotors, pads, front right lower control arm/bushing

Thanks for any help!
Joe

does the ABS light ever come on? mine had something where the ABS light would come on occasionally for a few seconds, then go off, and sometimes during brakeing, it would do the ABS lockup for no reason. turned out the one plug for my passenger side ABS was loose, so it was connecting then disconnceting itself, causing the issue

its cause the abs thinks there is a problem. bst thing you can do his use the brakes up untill that bump spot/railroad tracks, then let off, and back on once you're over them.

Its behind the brake caliper it looks like one of the attachments for the windshield washer fluid tank. It clips in.

I just checked my connections before I read this, and everything seems to be good right now but I haven't really hit the type of bump that really shakes things up. Time will tell....any other suggestions are welcome. Thanks again!

do you go over them fast? you're wheel could possibly be coming off the ground enough to lock the wheels and the abs goes on. As for the brake light coming on, you could have pretty low brake fluid, and when you went around the corner fast, your sensor thought you had low brake fliud.

I was a little low on fluid but as far as going fast over bumps, I don't go any faster then I did when I bought the car. The noise started about 6 months ago, sometime during the summer.
