So i had my car running to check my tranny fluid. so i checked my oil at the same time and there was smoke coming out of the filler tube.
what does that mean?. if it helps any i had a blown head gasket a month ago.
i have a 99 2200 auto
thanks
i wouldnt say its thick. i just never checked my oil when the car was running. so i dont know if that is normal or what.
you dont check oil when its running, so it could just be those vapors that the PCV valve would normally filter out. Its possible your PCV Valve is clogged, or you may still have some anitfreeze in the crankcase, did you change the oil after replacing the head gasket?
i do believe that i dont have a pvc valve on my engine. also i did change my oil after i changed the head gasket. but i have not changed it agian do to money issues. i will change it this thursday.
also some times my car wont start without me pushing on the gas pedal(heavily). sometimes it will go a day without any problems then the next it will have trouble starting. whats up with that?
thank you,
nick
mine usally smokes when i pour new oil in after changing it and its just a white smoke
1998 Sunfire, 2.2L auto
I believe the 2.2OHV had some sort of PCV valve, more like an air/oil seperator. Its possible it was clogged from the blown head..
Most vehicles after the introduction of OBD1 had some sort of a PCV valve, while not a PCV valve, but some sort of crankcase ventilation device.
It's normal. My car does it too. If it's a plume of heavy smoke then it's not normal, but if it's light it's fine. Also, like the other people said, don't check the oil with the car running.
ok i wont check it anymore while the cars running i was just there checking the tranny fluid so i was like why not. i will have to get me a manual for my car im so cheap that i just go to the library and rent the book but its a chilton and i like the haynes book better. i dont know about you guys. which one do you guys like better?
anybody know why sometimes i have trouble starting my car? it all started when i changed out my head gasket.
thank you,
nick
as mike said, all cars today have some form of crank vent
