I have 92,000km on my car and I was in my service department talking to one of the service reps and asked on what mileage do I need to have a drain/fill done at. They said that I dont need to do it. I talked to the service manager as well and he said the same thing. He stated that they check the fuild level as part of the oil change and what the fluid looks like but he said nothing on what the recommended maintancance is on this item.
I know on my GF's 2000 cav 4 door auto the auto trans is recom. at 85,000km. But WTF the deal with no mileage on a standard 5 speed? Does anyone know?
Here are other examples I know of
-fuel filter - 50,000km
-dexcool - 5 year or 240,000km
-auto trans - 85,000km
Is there any listing of what all the reccom. Service intervals are for j-bodys? even in my manul there is nothing listed for mileage change for manul trans. See my car is still under warranty until 100,000km so I know probably is going to be due for a tune-up soon but I just need to know,
Regards,
haynes manual says 50,000 miles or 80,000 km's
I would just go ahead and get it done it is not gonna hurt the car at all, and you can really tell the difference once they switch the fluid. The gears go in and out nice and easy, and it feels 100% better than before. I change teh fluid in my 99 Z every 15,000, and evry 30,000 in my 03 LS sport. But that is just me, I really don'tt need to change it that often, I am just too anal with my car. But I would just go and change it, doesn't cost much and it will deffinitly change the way the car shifts.
I am what I am and it is what it is.
I am the 2nd most untrusted person in the world next to a lawyer, welcome to our dealership, may I help you?
Thanks for the information guys. Next time I'm into service for something I'll get them to do a drain/fill on the manual trans. what kind of fluid does a 00 take? Some sort of syncromesh fluid?
