i have a question and it may sound silly but i noticed when my windsheild fogs up and i put the defroster on my a/c compresser comes on i can feel the motor working like as if the a/c was on my 1998 z24 didn't do that so i was just wondering is this normal oh ya it's a 2002 z24 ecotec please help thanks!
Yep. It's normal. If your 98 Z didn't do it, then there was a problem with it. My 98 Z does it and so did my 95 when I owned it.

Just for info
the evaporator in the air conditioning system, the part that cools your car also removes humidity as a secondary function. This is why most cars use the air conditioner to de-humidify/demist the car. Even back to my '93 the air conditioner is swiched on automatically if I select windshield demist.
