hey guys well the fan on my fire wasnt kickking in causing the car to obviuosly overheat. now what he did eas trip the wire so that the fan is always on since he says I have some aftermarket stuff like header intake etc. that it would benefit. Now is there someting wrong with the car fan being always on. thanks. E
I used to do that with my '88 years ago before I knew whatv was wrong with it. didnt seem to hurt anything, and I did that for quite a while.I would say if it aint permanent I wouldn't worry about it.
You dont want your fan on all the time.
It is normal for your car to overheat, unless its upwards in the redzone.
I believe the fan wont come on unless your car is going over 30 mph or something.

BS..it will come on ANYTIME the ECT tells the ECU it is at XXX temperature (where the ECU kicks on the fan.) Hell man...i have mine connected to a switch so i can have it on whenever i want at the track.
I used to race cars, now I race myself.

The ECU will kick the fan on once it hits around 210-215 for me. I have a temp gauge in my car and I always hear it come on around there. The car normally runs at 195ish, and the fan doesn't go on unless it hits that 210 mark as far as I know.
In winter or if your engine is cold, it will take longer for the engine to warm up. This means in winter it'll be longer before the heater blows cold, and before your engine runs in closed loop (ie. off the choke)
I'm having that problem right now. I don't know if its normal but my fan kicks on right away when i start it up and kinda takes a while to warm up. Do i have a bad coolant temp sensor or is this normal for the fan to kick on right away?
could have a bad sensor or a bad relay. the fan turns on by the fan relay grounding itself out.
there is a wire that comes into the relay that is always hot. there is a switch inside the relay, then it goes out the other side to the fan motor. the switch inside the relay is switched on when the ECU grounds the other side of the relay.
start working the circuit. pull the relay and try switching it with another one. if it comes on normally, it was a bad relay. if that doesnt work, then the ECU could be getting a faulty signal from the temp sensor or you have a ground somewhere in the circuit switching on the fan. the really is the easiest place to start. if that doesnt work get yourself some wiring diagrams and start tracing the circuit back with a DMM (Multi-Meter).

Do you have a check engine light?

Buy stuff from CarCustoms Ebay! Won't be disappointed!
I have a check engine light but thats because of the 2.3 mani swap. But ill try that relay one and start from there.

The fan is not needed at speed, as it is easily overpowered by the air coming through the radiator from driving. At idle is when it's needed.

if you need the fan on at 50MPH something is wrong:
1. thermostat
2. water pump
3. head gasket
4. radiator
5. coolant lost

Why exactly because of the 2.3 manifold? Certain DTC's will cause the fan to run at all times.
FU Tuning
it threw a code for the EGR flow. I need to upgrade to a 97" ecu so i can use hpt to delete that.
