HELP!!! WHOLE CLUSTER WENT DEAD!!! 98 SUNFIRE 2.2

HELP

My whole instrument cluster went dead and I just cant figure out where to start in the elimination process. Never seen anything like this before Tach, Speedometer, Temperature gauge, Fuel gauge, Odometer, Trip meter and all warning/accessory lights. Nothing works at all. Also now day time running lights are not working either.

By looking at the electrical schematics I have determined that there are two(?) instrument panel cluster microprocessors. One is tied into the Low beam light circuit and One is tied into the Daytime running light circuit. Low beams still work and so also do the high beams.

Some background:

1) Alternator replacement last year and again this year under warranty - No problems with "alternator" now
2) When alternator went second time blew fusible links at starter so I assumed that something else got fried but was no problem for 3 months until this recent issue.
3) The recall repair for the "high voltage" at the starter switch was performed a couple of years ago.
4) In the last year or so was experiencing some issues with possible loose wire at the dash (sounds funny) but on several occasions I had to tap cluster screen while ignition was in ACC position in order for the car to be started AND remain running. I new it would start when the "warning/accessory" lights would stay on after I tapped the dash.

Some of you are probably shaking your heads at this but I absolutely refuse to pay 1000.00 to have the dash ripped apart and possibly not repaired. My service mechanic didn't even want to touch it and directed me to a high priced shop that specializes in electrical issues.

ANY THOUGHTS ???

Any help would be great on where to start and where to focus time and money...Thanks

Instr Cluster fuse blew out. Replace it in your fuse box.

Well my friend at work at his cluster burn out, Then his car wouldnt start either, His car would only keep cranking when the key was turned, I looked at his fuel pump relay fuse pulled it out see that their was corrosion on the terminals of the fuses, I cleaned them all off, Then all the dash lights and all gauges worked. (Note No fuses were blown).
Just had white corrosion.

Good Luck
