Hi Guys:
I am still trying to find "ghost" of a problem that I discussed in a previous post (entitled "horn problem"). As such, I am now trying to find where the following are actually located:
Multi-Function Alarm Module
Left Front Door Jamb Switch
If someone can give me detailed descriptions of where these actually are (photos would be better) I would really appreciate it.
I must be blind but I cannot even find the door jamb switch. Apparently this feeds in to the Multi-Function Alarm Module (as does the Courtesy Lights CTRL signal).
Thanks

the door switch is at the front of the door on the body side just in front of the hinges, black push pin

This is a link to a previous post on the multi-function alarm module, which I think is contained in the convenience center.
Are you sure your model has door jamb switches and not "Door Handle" switches on the front? You may be looking in the wrong place.

Hi Guys:
Thanks for the help. I found the door switch (by the hinges). Now I just to figure out how to stop the interior light from going on by itself (even though door is closed). I was asking about the switch since I was thinking that somehow the switch was causing my dome light to come on (bad since it would run down battery) and also set-off the factory alarm (bad since horn starts honking and healights start flashing). Now I just need to figure out how to get the switch out.
Thanks Again

To get the switch out I believe you need to do the following: Remove the plastic floor panel that runs along side your seat and under your dash near your hood release. Next I think I unscrewed the hood release just to move it out of my way. Now you just have to move some carpeting, padding and rubber plugs and that should give you access to the wire harness that retains your door switch. The switch retains with some rigid plastic and I broke an arm of it off, but it went back in just a little loose.
Anyhow, that's what I can remember when I took mine out when it quit working. Just beware that once it's disconnected, your stock "alam" will be useless because your computer will always think your door is closed and therefore not honk if you were to engage it and then open the door.
I had mine out for a while and finally lubed it with some gun oil(very thin oil) and worked it a bit and now it's back to normal.

Thank you. I think I will try and deal with it this weekend (supposed to be good weather here). Hopefully this will be "the" fix.
Thanks again....and to everyone else that responded.

Good luck, let us know what you find out too! I called a local dealership and I believe the price on a new switch is $12 - $15. I figured I could at least pull it out and screw with it before i forked over the cash for a new one, and it worked for the best.

anyone knows where is locate the Multi-Function Alarm Module???
Here Magik-it's in the link posted by Alont above
[On my '93 Cav it's an orange coloured small plastic box with holes in one side to let the sound out.
It is on the very left side of the car almost above your left foot if you moved it as far left as possible. ]
Good Luck

how many wires there is on that?
and when i let the key in and the door is open the sound doesn't come from the driver side, but from the passenger side.... so i dont know!!!!!

thanx!
Well, I got the switch out. It was actually pretty easy. It looks like I will need to replace it, so either I will buy a new one or hit a local scrap yard. It will depend on price of a new one. Getting the replacement switch in will be a 1min job. :-) Or I may just not get one at all. With the switch out I have 1negative and 1positive thing. The negative is that if the engine is running and I open the driver's side door, the courtesy light will not come on (not really a big deal since it would be rare that I would ever want the courtesy light on with th engine running and the door open). The positive thing is that now if I leave the key in the ignition (engine off), the radio will stay on after I open and close the driver's side door. Normally the radio would shut off.
The Alarm Module in my car is on driver's side, justby the clutch. It is a black colored box. It was a pain in the A$$ to get it out.
