I've got a question, and it might sound like a newb kinda question. I have a 98 2.2 with A/C and the Compressor clutch is makes a lot of noise when the A/C is off. I really don't feel like replacing the compressor right now since its getting cold and its kind of expensive. I was looking at it and I was thinking that the non-AC serpentine belt would work. Has anyone done this or know if it will work? thanks

hmm, i tried to get a non A/C sep belt for my 96 fire 2.4 and they said they didnt make one!
all you have to do is get a peice of rope or string and wrap it around the pulleys the way it would run and measure it out and tell the auto parts store that length and number of ribs and they should be able to get you one i had to do the same for my 91 sunbird when my compressor went, they dont make a non a/c belt for a 3.1L i guess so i just measured it out and it works fine. you can go UPTO 1 in., in length, of your measurements id say and be safe

I've recently did that to my '99,and yes it does work.I have the 2.2 with a/c.Just go to your local parts store and tell 'em ya want a belt for non a/c 2.2 and put it on accordingly to what your diagram says under the hood.
