Transmission flush, what kind of fluid to use??
Thursday, October 27, 2005 9:12 AM
I am going to have my transmission flushed within the next few weeks. It is kinda feeling a little weak, so I though this wouldn't hurt since it has 72,000 miles on it. It is a 2000 Z24 A4. I was wondering if I should have any specific kind of fluid or addative put into it? What would be the best to use?
Thanks!!

Just use Dexron III for your change. No additives are needed. I changed mine for the first time at 85,000 miles. It was overdue. I did it myself and used the 4 qt bottles of Havoline Dexron III from Parts America. Don't forget to change the filter. Mine took 9.5 qts.

Ok that sounds good. Yea I was going to get the filter & fluid changed. So just used the regular tranny fluid then. Sounds like a plan, thanks!!!

Just change the fluid & filter. Takes about 6 quarts on my 96 2.2L.

If you've never had it flushed before, DON'T start now. I've seen several guys start having tranny problems not long after they did a flush, just chg. fluid & filter every 20-30K or so and you'll be fine.
