i got a problem and need some help. i was going to class the other day and i start hearing this roaring sound coming from under my car. kind of sounded like a flat tire. i got out and check and i have no flats. so i take it to a shop and he says it is prolly my brakes cause they were pretty bad so i got them changed. he checked a lot of things around my tires and tire well and said nothing else seemed to be worng. but the sound is still there and it keeps getting worse and worse. anybody have any ideas?
let me know
thanks
Hub Bearing. sounds and acts like your describing.
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
yea...thats kind of what i was thinking. i used to have a 94 cavy and the hub bearing went out on it and it made that sound. thanks jack
any other ideas?
Glad to help. You know how to replace it?
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
If it is the hub bearing, here are the easy checks.
If you drive down the road and hang a right and it gets worse, it is the left hub.
If you drive down the road and hang a left and it gets worse, it is the right hub.
Also, you can lift the front of the car off of the ground and try moving the whole tire/wheel up and down with your hands. If you feel any play, that hub is bad.
im still uncertain as to which hub (left or right) that is bad....are the hubs the same for either side or do you have to have a left hub for the left side and a right hub for the right side? let me know...im gonna try to get it fixed tomorrow morning
thanks
same on both sides...i replaced my mom's left hub 2 years ago, then had to replace (i thought) the right one not to long ago, ended up bein the left one AGAIN...damn 2 year warranties...
but ya, that's axactly what it sounds like...their about $50 and ARE interchangable from left to right
Change Hub bearings, I've change mines
