did anyone have to splice o2 connector wires together when installing the pacesetter header? i put it on a 2000 2200 cavalier about a year ago and now when i scan the computer it comes up as a bad connection from the o2 sensor. i had a exhaust shop do a full exhaust when i put in the header and i'm not sure if he had to splice or if the connection was in the same place. but i just took out the o2 and pulled some of the tape back and found 2 splices in the wire. i'm not sure if that's from the factory or the exhaust shop either way i'm not sure if the o2 could actually be bad or if it is just a connection. i bought some of that cold shrink tape from advanced and was going the pull all the tape off to make sure the wires were all attached or whatnot.... any opinions?
I installed my 2nd Pace Setter header myself, but didn't have the opportunity the first time around. However, I do think the wires were extended that first time.
What I would do is pull ALL the tape off between the sensor (should be bank 1 in the code you're throwing) and where it goes into the harness. If they all look in tact, you might wanna use an ohm meter to test for a signal from the sensor itself. If there is none, bad sensor.
i heard you have to heat up the sensor to test it.... this true or should i just leave it plugged in and put a ohm meter on it?
I don't think you can just cut the wire, doesn't pacesetter make an extension for the o2 sensor for this application?

does anybody know if there's another car with the same o2 but a longer cable?
problem solved... i called pacesetter and they told me they'd send some sort of kit. probably a peice of wire and some clips. but who knows? anyone?
I installed a header on my car and I thought i could just cut the wires and put a patch piece in and now I'm getting a CEL
well i called up pacesetter and they told me i'd get a kit in the mail for making my o2 longer. i didn't hold very high hopes for what this kit held and when it arrived my suspicions were right, nothing but a peice of wire and a couple of clamps. the instructions that came with said the best way to slice this isn't with the crimps and tape but with a soldering gun and heat shrink. wich explains alot for me because none of that was inclued by the exhaust shop that i had install my header.
i had to splice into mine to make the wire longer ....the wire and connectors with the header....they were heat shrink butt connectors
When I installed my header, I bought
this
extension for the o2 sensor. I've had no problems and have had my header for almost 2 years now.
iono, i put mine on a 2.4L w/ no problems lol, but ya i know completely diff ball game, you guys w/ 2.2 have the exhaust on bassackwards lol
