^^If the radio's working, it's most likely not the battery.

Check your ignition fuses under the hood and in the fuse box by the driver's door.

There is a big gap between the power required to power the radio and lights and that required to turn a car over. I also say recheck the battery.

It's also not clear how new these parts are. Did you swap them all in after you have the starting problem, or sometime in the recent past?

try jumping it, if it does nothing different then you know its not a power issue. don't autos have a brake switch that has to engage (you push in the brake) to let the car turn over, that could be dead or having problems. i know on my manual i have to press the clutch all the way in and if the floor mat is too far forward, it wont engage.

just another suggestion, no promises

in my old mustang, my nuetral safety switch went bad.. it had an automatic transmission.

basically what this switch did was sense if the car was in neutral (or park). if it was, then you can start it. if the shifter was put in rev, drive, 1,2,3,etc, then it would not start.

when it starts going bad, you gotta jiggle the shifter and turn the key to make it work lol...

good luck finding your problem!

Disconnect both ends of the earth cable, make sure they are clean and tight and that the chassis connection point is clean and tight when reconnected.
Also check the connections to the starter solenoid. It sounds as though you have a bad connection if it's not the neutral safety switch as mentioned above.
I agree with those above in that the radio takes a very small amount of amps and will play quite happily whilst the starter needs lots and if the resistance is high somewhere it has more effect if the current draw is also high.

A rough/quick check is to see what happens with headlights ON and you attempt to start, if the lights dim it's probaly a bad connection-if they don't I would suspect the neutral safety switch operation or adjustment(if there is any?)

Good Luck anyways

Sounds like the neutral safty switch to me. Quick check, unplug the switch on the tranny and stick a jumper wire into the connector then try to start. If the car turns over, the switch is bad.

It says in the book,
as followed:
1.Battery terminal connections loose or corroded(but that isn't it cause you can play your cd player.)
2.battery discharged or faulty
3.automatic transaxle not fully in park
4.Broken, loose or disconnected wiring in the starting circuit
5.STarter motor pinion jammed in flywheel ring gear
6.Starter motor faulty.
7.Starter solenoid faulty.
8.Ignition switch faulty
9.Starter pinion or flywheel teeh worn or broken
10. defective fusible link.

let me know what happens

Test for power on the purple wire at the starter when you try to crank it. If there is no power, you probably have a problem with the ignition switch or neutral switch. If it does light, your new starter/solonoid is shot.

same problem i had a couple weeks ago, except i had some clicks. replace the starter and still did it. turns out, the positive terminal at the battery was extremely corroded. i cleaned it up, ground it down to bare copper replaced the terminal bolt and all was good.

Peace Out!!!
