Hey all, I just changed oil and filter and i put 5qts in like the manual says but its only showing 1 mark above low on dipstick. What gives ? Is the manual wrong?

the 2.2L ECOTEC requires 5.1 qts, maybe you didnt do something right?
5 quarts is what it takes....
the car has to be completely level in order to get an accurate reading on the dipstick. Even a slight slope on a driveway or elsewhere can throw off the reading by a quart (or litre). Check the level next time you're at a gas station.

but anyway, i belive 5 quarts should do it, if it's sitll low then put a little mroe it it's not gonna hurt anything
my g/fs eco in her cav takes 5 1/2 qts
dealer told her the amount was updated in a bulliten
and that when it was new , been using 5 1/2 since with no problems
id fill it to the fill line

I out 4 qts in my 2.2 eco, shows full all the time.

Thanks 97cavie for the info, I put 51/2 qts. in and its right up to the top notch I quess the manual is wrong after all.
