I posted a few weeks back. I have a 97 Sunfire 2.2 automatic. I admit I know nothing about cars. Everytime it rains badly my car seems to not want to start properly and the whole engine shakes. I have changed my ht leads and plugs a few times. I've even had a new altenator and transmission. This keeps happening. Today after it rained all night my car started ok, after I drove it for a few stoplights it didn't want to go. I had to push down the gas all the way before it would take off. I took staight to the shop, but after you drive it the moisture dries up and they can't find anything. I have a false alarm light in my steering wheel, they've suggested I take it out and that might be what is making it start funny. It was there when I bought the car. Would that have anything to do with bad starts??? Any help would be greatly appreciated and save me $$ hopefully!!
does it drive fien when its not wet out? maybe one of your sensors is getting wet
Yeah it drive pretty good when the weather is fine.
Would that be something the mechanic would pick up on though??
They never seem to find anything
sounds like something electrical. id check all the sensors and see if their all plugged in or any broken wires to a harness
change the plug wire.

Plug Wires are a good idea on this car anyways, but your problem is more likely to be a coil or module. Its located on the back of the block and water works it way down there when its moist out ... even after it rains some mornings mine is a pain.
I have changed some leads a few times. The next time this happens and I go to the mechanic if I suggest they check the coil, is this a common problem would they agree that it could be the problem?? and whats the typical cost of that??
