I used to be a staunch 5-30 user myself. What with the age of my 'Fire gettin up there, and with the internals all mostly OE, I'm startin' to switch to 10-30 during the summer months -say when daylight savings time kicks in. Only 'cause that's when the oil would get its thinnest during hot driving days and I may need more protection against oil leaks between 'worn' engine parts. Still using 5-30 to get things flowing 'quicker' in the cold winter.

Your engine is designed to operate best with 5W-30. I wouldn't change to 10W-30 unless the outside temperatures are very warm year round. I put 10W-30 in one of my vehicles that GM recommended 5W-30 and the hydraulic lifters didn't like it, especially in cold weather.

5w-30 all the way. No need to switch out.
