First, yes, I searched, and the posts that were displayed didn't help.
Situation:
A friend has a 2000 cavalier (I assume its the 2200), and her odometer says ERROR. She says it's been doing it for about a month and a half now. Her service light is on as well, the one that looks like a wrench.
That's all the info I have. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

her serivce light has been on for a month and a half and she has been ignoring it? tell her to take it to the dealer
what exactly is the service light for? if its just so the dealer can make a few bucks to turn it off, then she doesnt want to. she's had it scanned at auto zone, and no error codes came up

o and....the service light will never come on if nothing is wrong......somethign has to trip it
she tells me that when she starts the car, odometer says 60999, and then changes to ERROR

The meter at Autozone only check for code thrown by the Check engine light. A friend just had the light come one and they found out there is a bad BCM and a few one other issue. BCM issue won't throw a Check engine light (CEL)
