It's a 94 cavalier... and it is taking in a lot of water when it rains. Unclear from where. anyone have any ideas. car has some rust. Its driving me nuts because I can't find where it's coming from.
Please help me

i had same problem. try siliconing all gaps (cheap but effective fix). or, do it correctly, and have all rubber molding and trim replaced...but in the past, i siliconed all the cracks to my car when it had the same problem, and it fixed the problem. good luck.

I had a 93 Sunbird that had the same problem. The body filler in the cowl intake compartment dryes up and becomes brital. The compartment in question is over top the firewall and directly under the windscreen.

In the corners where the hood hinges sit is the body filler. I had to pull all the loose body filler out and cleaned out the rust, prime, bondo, and paint. I managed to get it to stop leaking on one side but the other still had a slow leak. You have to clean it up good or otherwise it will crack and you will have the same problem again.

Oh, it helps to remove the grill over this cavity. There is a screw in the center of the grill that is covered by the hood when closed. And two bolts, one on each side, under the grill. They are way in the back. Just feal for the end of the straps and you will find them.

was the car every wrecked?? in particular on the door?

Oh, forgot to say that you will need to remove you wipper arms as well. There is a lever where the wipper arm connects to studs. You may have to pry the lever out with a flat head screw driver. Just be sure to mark there original location to make the re-assembly easyer.

no it wasn't damaged. I am reading this by russ b and its good, but how do i remove the wiper arms. i looked at it the other day and wasnt able. are there any directions anywhere

it is coming from under the windshield, however I cant get the arms off so i cant pull it off. However what if i sylicone everything underneath, press it down and tighten it again. It will stop most of the weaking. I am gonna probably do that now

At the base of the arms are levers. Where the arms attach to the rotating part of the wiper assembly. The levers are probly about an inch up from the rotating part. It is a litte nub on the side. You can see them on the back side of the wiper arm (closest to the glass). Just pull the lever to the side and the arm pulls off the studs.

i had a 91 sunbird that did the same, this was a HUGE issue with almost every 2nd gen at a certain point....., what people are saying is correct, but its more of a hit and miss effort to seal it. i went through 3 winters where i could have wore skates on my floors. your best bet is to get a friend to pore a bucket of water down the winshield while your in the car looking for where its coming from and go from there...., best of luck, but once u seal one spot, another will come along....

The most effective way I found to discover a leak was to remove the carpeting, at least on the front, I actually removed the front seats, cut the carpeting in half from front to back which made it easier to remove completely, then checked the car up under the dash for rusts/drip marks where the water had been entering.

I also had the wiper arms and the grill over the cavity removed, removed the rubber flaps on each side of the car at the drain points. Found the leak point and sealed it with some good quality seam sealer and the car has been dry for years now.

i seem to have the same problem but i have a 99 cav. mine gets wet in the front and in the trunk spare tire well. i had an amp in the spare tire well and water got in there. you better believe it about caught my car on fire. but the spare tire well hasnt done it since and the front only does it sometimes not all the time. so i dont know what to do. i checked all seals. nothing help me aswell
