My 03 cavi is leaking fuel around what i believe to be a PCV valve above the fuel rail.
I've snatched an image of the top side of the engine from the GM SCBB and highlighted the part in red, if anyone could tell me what part this is, i really need to replace it because its leaking fuel (albeit very slowly) onto the fuel rail, and i'd like to avoid a ECO-Bque

not sure what it is exaclty
but i know its a vacuum line
nothing should come out of it
Maint.
thats the factory fuel pressure regulator. if its leaking you need to replace either the whole thing or the O rings inside of it. there is no PCV valve on the ecotec.
the little nipple that it looks like you have tape over is the crankcase evacuation point. that needs to be open...not taped off. put a breather on it if nothing else. thats where the PCV would be if we had one.
I used to race cars, now I race myself.

Again, the picture was taken from the GM sport compact build book. The pic is actually for the supercharger installation. The "Tape" across the fuel rail is actually the OEM part tag.
Anyhoo, back on track. So I need to replace the pressure regulator... peachy....
Direct OEM replacements are $70 to $90.... well, i'm praying it will hold for a few more weeks because i'm getting absolutely slammed with bills right now.... Cant even find an 03 ecotec in the 'yards to yank from a wrecker.....
Le Sigh

Waaaaaaaaiiit a minute here... could it also be possible that its a Cold start valve?
Or are you absolutely certain that its a pressure regulator?

You can also look for 2000 cavalier/sunfire ecotec's to 2005's
There are probably more 2000-2002 cavalier/sunfire..then there is the new cavaliers..
the red part is the FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR! why doesnt anyone believe me when i tell them anything? i think that i, for one, should know what it is considering 1) i replaced it 2) ive been messing with this car to unbelievable extents lately.
and i wasnt refering to the tag on the fuel rail (which should tell you IMMEDIATELY that the part CONNECTED to it has something to do with fuel, not oil. might also be a clue to what it is when you LOOK and see a FUEL LINE running out of it.) i was refering to the nipple on the valve cover that you have tape over when i was refering to where the PCV would be IF THERE WAS ONE

Again i say, the pic i show in the original post is from THE GM SPORT COMPACT BUILD BOOK! NOT MY ACTUAL CAR!

If it's leaking from the fold in the metal... then you need a new one. Otherwise, just replace the O-rings and be done with it. Way cheaper.
any idea on where i could find a FPR?
Been doing some looking and i'd rather replace with an adjustable, but i cant find an OEM or an adjustable replacement....
