Hello. I just drove 2 hours home. I didnt realize it until I was home, but my car was overheating. The guage was all the way at the top. Also, the Check Gages light was on. I let the car sit about 15 minutes, then opened the hood and it was still very hot. I checked the coolant and there was plenty in there. My water pump was replaced less than a year ago. Any suggestions on what the problem is?

Thermostat may have stuck closed.
Radiator not circulating due to sludge.
If the thermostack is stuck close, is there any way I can open it... or should I take it to a garage?

When you turn the heat on do you feel it get hot? What color is your coolant? Do you have a check engine light on?

If the thermostat is stuck closed, replace it. $10 tops.
thermostat is very cheap and easy to change. If you pay 10$ for it you prolly paid too much, And its about 40 mins work IF That!
Ok, thanks guys. I'll get out my haynes manual today and give you guys an update in a few days.
