Belt Install on 96 Sunfire 2.2L

I was re-installing the belt on my car after installing the water pump, picked up a special serpentine belt tool from the local auto parts store. The tool came with a shallow 15MM socket. It seems to me that the engine mount gets in the way of fully releasing the belt tensioner so I supported the engine and took the engine mount off. Belt was a piece of cake to get back on with that engine mount out of the way. Is there an easier way to get the belt on without taking the engine mount loose? Is there a special tool that is made so I don't have to take the engine mount loose??

I've done the serp belt on my 2.2 '96 a few times for various reasons. I used a similar (?) tool to 'rotate' that pulley out of the way. My kit came with a shorter extension bar to make an angle, if need be, getting to the pulley. I've had a fun time once or twice when the pulley nut slipped out of the socket, but could always wrestle it back in. Might you have an easier time if you make a small extension bar?
