Every now and then my abs and brake light on the instrument cluster come on. I know that when the abs light is on the abs system shut down....if my wheels lock up at all when the light is on the car shuts off. Any ideas as to what is causing this problem? Also, from time to time I hear a clicking noise coming from the dash (above where the turn signals lever is) while braking. I'm pretty sure I'll have to bring it in to be looked at but I was just curious if any one on here has had the same problem.
i do, brake light and ABS lights are always on, annoying as hell....

I have that problem and nobody knows whats causing it. I got so tired of looking at those lights I messed with the fuses in the engine bay and got the parking light to go off and put some electrical tape behind my abs light on the gauges....
the most common reason for the abs light to come on is no reading from the wheel speed sensor. get under the car and look at the axle shaft near the wheel. you will see a little notched ring running around it. see if there is any dirt or mud stuck in the teeth. if so, clean it. that would disrupt sensor reading and trip your abs light. also, you will see a small electrical connector leading to that same area of the axle. see if any of the wires have been eaten away or knicked by road debris. when the abs light comes on, its usually something stupid like that. check it out boss, it could save you some money.
