here's a problem ... with my '99 Sunfire, i find that if i'm stuck in stop & go traffic, only 5 - 10 minutes after starting it up in the morning, my engine temp needle is really close to red-lining. i've had this problem since i got my car almost 6yrs ago but it's really been bothering me lately. is it maybe a coolant problem? or maybe my fan is off?
i noticed a red 'dummy light' come on next to the gas guage sometimes. it's like a red square with little fluid waves close to the bottom, and an arrow pointing down. would this have anything to do with my cooling prob?
Have you checked your thermostat? Had that problem with my '90 Bird.
I believe if you check the little owners manual pamplet thing in your glove box you'll find you low coolant light is on - that is probably why your overheating as well.
I mentioned the thermostat because mine was stuck close so no coolant could get in. You can replace it yourself real easily.
i *would* check the owners manual Pearl WhiteZ, but if i actually had one, i wouldn't be here asking, would i? i bought my car used, and the original owner didn't have one either.
