Hi all this is very strang to me as that i've never heard of anything like this.
i will be at the light and when she turns green i put my foot into it and the tires will.....and then i will get up to about 60Kph are so and let my foot of her and then i see this light come on.
also when going around a corner not to fast at all it comes on,i've checked all the fluids and everything is fine.
i dont beat on my car like some people i hear i just love the sound of those RPM's going up.
has anybody heard anything like this are have had this problem before
o its a 2.4
I would say add some coolant...
Maybe the sensor located on the bottom of the coolant resevoir is corroded. It does seem like you just need to add some coolant, but if it's full then I don't know. Mine comes on up hills and stuff, but I have a slow leak. So when the tank get's too low, and the coolant sloshes back, the sensor thinks there is none . Similar to what's happening to yours.
Convert 00+ headlights to 95-99
my 98 gt usta do that... now its 4 months or so later and i am replacing the water pump
if your low coolant light it coming on when it hit the gas or turn cornors or even sometimes break hard it mean you have a system leak... Normally the coolant levels should never drop due to usage, if you have a slow leak the coolant levels slowly come down. If you ignore the promlem in time you will notice your coolant light coming on when you slightly hit the gas then then over more time it will always be on. Depending on the yr and km and obvios leak for cooant is almost always the head gasket if you have over 60,000 this promblem can be come common in J-body cars. check around the bottom of the head for "wetness" and also inspect all rad hoses and the rad and drain plug as well. if you see wetness around the bottom of the head take it to a mechanic and they'lldo a pressure test for like $30-50 to confirm its the head gasket. and go from there.

you know what, thats what i was thinking i should'ed have to add coolent LOL
the car is a 2001 chevy cavalier 2,4 with 57,000 kilometers
and to my knowledge the 2.4s don't have weak heads like the 2.2s the damn water pumps go.Now when i bought the car with 33,000 and before i went on my trip i notice some coolent leaking from where the rad hose goes to that plastic thermostat houseing.
i'll look again
I had a simliar problem with my 96 2.4. I would either get on the gas or just driving around corners, etc, and the light would come on. Figured out in my case that the sensor that is in the coolant resevoir moved up and got stuck. I hit the top of the resevoir a couple times (hard) and it went back down and fixed itself. No problems since.
Jas
really i'll look at that to tomorrow
i really hate not having a rad cap so i can see if the coolant is low are dirty etc like in my 3.1 etc
Mine did that, the coolant light at least. I was just low on coolant. Added some and no more light.

but i should'ed have to add coolent in this year of a car yet unless i have a small leak somewhere i could see it being a 85 LOL
now i have another question for you, should i use the Dexcool coolent that gm says on the rad support are basic green coolent.
the reason i ask this is because i;ve heard that pink stuff gets at your head
There is a TSB from GM on this ......They say that " The cause of this is in the design of the baffles within the coolant jug"..........mine does this also....coolant if full but when i accelerate hard and bring it up to high RPM's the light will come on

Really thankyou very much.Do you have a link to the right up on this from gm???
also is this some kind of recall on it
It's normal after a few year that the coolant get low. Coolant is mix with water. what happend to water above 100°C, it boils. It doesn't in the coolant but it evaporates with time.
