Need Help ASAP.....
Thursday, September 22, 2005 3:54 PM
Ok i am working on winterizing the rest of my car right now, and i have 1 problem. How the hell do you turn the engine over by hand? I cannot get a wrench onto the crankshaft pully nut or anything. I have some Penzoil fogger can to shoot oil into the cylanders but once i do that how the hell do i turn the engine over? I already have the battery pulled. What will happen if i reconnect it and then just leave the spark plug wires detached? Will that hurt anything turning it over that way? Or how should i go about doing this?

oh crap..... meat for maintenance forum.....

Oh well anyways, what if i disconnect the fuse for the fuel pump and then start the car, i won't have to worry about gas getting into the cylanders?

Ummm well the system is charged still... So yeah there will still be some fule in the system... you can take the fuse out then run the car til it runs out though... There still may be a little gas in the system though... but i dont know what harm it would really do.....

Well thats what i did. Took the plugs out and shot the Fogger into the cylanders for 10 sec like the can said, then pulled the fuel pump fuse, reconnected the battery. Proceeded to start the car and it did what i thought it would do for me. Engine turned over for a few sec and stoped, then did it once more really quick. Put the plugs back and and then took the battery out. When putting the plugs back in i wasn't able to smell any fuel, just that wonderful oil smell that you get when it comes from a compressed can. The car has also been sitten since.... crap sept. 4. Which was the last time i had her started up and that was also when i changed the oil.

you can depressurize the fuel system by either unclipping the quick disconnect at the firewall using the GM tool (can get it at advance auto parts from the Ampro tool isle) or by using a schader valve fuel drain at the valve on the rail if the 2.2s have them. I know the quads don't but I am pretty sure your motor does.
