Car runs rich!

I have a 99 Z24. I just put a new motor in the car this weekend. When I started the car, it started blowing black smoke and smelt liek unburned fuel. Being that I had the battery out of the car for 2 days though maybe it had to do with the computer needing to readjust itself. Drove the car for about 5 miles to the gas station, should have been plenty of time for the computer to set everything. The car still idles rough and releases black smoke. Its not burning oil, ive checked it everytime before Ive started the car and has always been the same.

Also when I take off the car wil hesitate quite a bit, if I let off the gas and press it again the car will buck and take off in a cloud of black smoke.

Before I replaced the motor, I was able to get 24mg on the freeway, now im lucky to be getting 12-14 mpg. My drive to work is about 110 miles round trip, used to be able to go back and forth on 3/8 of a tank, now im burning 3/4 a tank of gas.

I made sure everything was plugged back in correctly.
I havent been running the car hard either due to just putting the motor in.

Anyone know what would cause this problem?
With the price of gas now adays, I can afford to be burning $40.00 a day in gas.

Thanks in advance for any help,
Thomas

Check your plugs, coil packs, etc. First place to start at least.

All changed when motor put in. Took to local parts store, had them do OBD II test, came back as bad front o2 sensor. Going to replace and go from there!

ok if it is a 2.4 on the throttle body there is a hose that goes to the map sensor that hose is notorious for cracking causing, black smoke, mis idle whil taking off ect

Yup, and if it's an automatic it will shift hard.

Might want to pull the plugs and see if it is every cylinder that is running rich. If only one or two are running rich, then you have a possible injector leaking or bad.
