so whats going on here, i have a 2.4 in my 98 cavalier and i bought a 2.4 out of a 99 alero same engine pulling diffrent part numbers what is going on here? can i use this engine then? some one help me, out both quad fours both Vin T's , ????

also wondering the same thing cause i cant find a 2.4 out of a cavy but can for other cars. t(thinking about a swap again)

well i am in the process of a swap right now and i pulled a 2.4 out of a alero and so far all the sensors have been swaped and i just founf out i have to swap the intake manifold also

The knock sensor will be different.
Also no EGR valve, use all old sensors from old car. Also use intake and exaust manifolds from cav.

use the 98 injectors because some 99 are diferent so don't take any chance.

Like said above, you'll have to put the Egr from your 98 on the 99.

ok so then, what would be diffrent about the injectors?? size in fuel or should i just change the fuel rail, also is this new engine stronger then the z24 2.4 ? since it is out of an alero , you know since the alero if heavier?? are the internals the same??

(Impedance.) 99-02 are high Impedance, 96-98 are low Impedance.
Engine is exactly same as a 99-02 cavalier, sunfire, grand am.

You should ask Z2Flip4, he put an Alero engine is his Z24, so he might have some info for you that you might need. Just a thought.

LOTS of things changed between 98 and 99 on the 2.4L.

Head is different (combustion chambers are slightly different)
Intake manifold changed
Exhaust manifold changed
Cat changed
EGR on 96-98, no EGR on 99-02
Belt tensioner is different
Injectors as already stated
Starter (there's actually three.. a third in 01)

There's more... but I just woke up and I'm not that with it yet...

Just swap in a HO quad 4 engine, you won't really have to change anything.

but maintenance is harder i heard....im interested in a 2.4 cause i heard the swap was easier

I mean i swaped in a quad 4 , seemed like the same as in swaping in a 2.4, bolts up the same to the subframe etc etc. and also the ho quad 4 is 180 hp as oppose the 2.4 which is 150. sooo you get what i'm saying.

what kind of a car would i pull a quad 4 from and what would i need from the donor. i also have 99 cavalier like drake - 2200 99 manual except mines purple lol

nothing to change? hahaha, you have alot of small things to change and you have to change the cams.

You need to change the cams if you want to keep the 2.4 Ecm otherwise you need a wiring harness and ecm.

You need to modify your exhaust.

The Ps pump lines are different.

Coolant line are different.

Injectors need to be change if you want to use the 2.4 Ecm.

You need a 5spd transmission if you have an auto.

and a bunch of other small things.
