F%&king headlight switch

Okay, here's the deal... I have a '97 Sunfire SE, and in the past 14 months I've gone through four headlight switches, with the most recent problem occuring today. The switch that just broke on me I replaced less than a month ago myself. What's happens is when I turn the switch all the way on, the tail lights come on, and all the corner lights come on as well, but no headlights (the headlight indicator on the dashboard stays lit). The high beams come on and stay on if I click them. If I try to spin the switch (to go past "on") the headlights come on, but won't stay on.

I'm just concerned that the switch breaking this many times is a sign of a more serious problem than just getting a cheap part made in Mexico (but that in itself is an issue). The only headlight 'mod' that I've done is replacing the stock lenses with Eurolite Xenon Crystal lamps, but I doubt that could be the problem, since I've had the headlights for the better part of two years.

Any help/ideas/input is greatly appreciated.

The term 'stock' is COMPLETELY relative...

I remember this issue was addressed before and the problem wasn't in the switch itself. Can't remember exactly what the problem was though. I think it was in the wiring or a connection somewhere. Try www.automotiveforums.com. May be someone there that knows.

God bless America.

I had the same problem last year. Got another switch at a wreckers and been good ever since. Maybe take it apart and put some di-electric grease on the connections.
