Well first I did do a search but didn't exactly find what im looking for. All of a sudden the other day I started up my car which normally idles at 1000rpm and now it idles anywhere from 1400-1800rpm. I checked the vaccum lines and everything connected to the throttle body and intake. I'm really not sure how to go about fixing this, it doesnt seem like there's a leak or anything and theres no way I can adjust the idle seeing its controlled by the computer. any info or help with this would be great, thanks!

run a quick trouble code check...

i'm guessing that mebbe the temp sensor is saying u got a cold engine & in turn keeps the idle speed up.

or one of the idle controls are whack...

post the trouble codes if u got any.

My first guess would be to ask, Do you have youre check engine light on? I would try using some throttle body cleaner to get out the dirt and grime, Out of youre throttle body. Some times a sensor called IAC motor thats in behind youre throttle body, In which causes youre idle to be controled at the right rpm, If their is dirt or grime in it, The part will work improperly, Just get some carb or throttle body cleaner see what happens.

^^ Thats what one of my friends said about if the tb has dirt or grime, and its not giving me a check engine light so the guy at autozone said there was no point to hook it up and see if its throwing codes. My guess is that its that IAC so i'll try cleanin all that up and tell ya what happens. Thanks guys.
