hey.. i have a 90 with the 2L and automatic. when i put the car in park, the oil pressure light comes on, sorta dull. it flickers, gets brighter, then gets dull again, etc. the car seems to run okay. problem w/ the sensor or something?
How many miles on the old girl? Could be the oil pump is weak or the sensor bad like you said. You could replace the sensor or stick an oil pressure gauge in the sensor port to test the oil pump pressure.
only 60k miles on the engine, actually a bit less. can you tell me how the sensor works in this car? is it just a switch? grounded when pressure hits 6psi or whatever?
IF the oil pressure sender switch is the original or old ,replace it that's normally the signs of it going bad.Remember it's a electrical part and they do go out at any time,I for one know owning a 1985 type10 205,000 plus loads of yrs of exper 20 to be exact.
