Hi everyone,
I have a 2 door 2000 Cavalier Z24 with power windows. When I roll down the driver's side window, it's fine for 3/4 of the trip, but then near the bottom it starts to shake as if it was encountering resistance in the track. Same place every time... Funny thing is, It rolls back up WITHOUT any resistance in the same area.
The passenger side is exhibiting similar behaviour, but not nearly as bad.
I took off the driver's side panel to take a closer look. No visible problems in the track. I spayed some WD-40 along both tracks, and added some grease to them. Didn't really help.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
Mine does that sometimes. I think it is the rubber seal on both sides of the glass because when the glass is wet it doesn't bounce like that.
Well, I had it into the dealer, and they said that the regulator needed to be replaced (includes the motor). However, when I pushed them on what exactly was wrong, the guy said the motor was getting weak and causing the window to "stutter". It would eventually stop working. So, it sounded to me that it was just motor. When I mentioned that to him, he said that the whole unit is replaced together.
So, here's my problem. I'm not confident that the whole unit needs to be replaced. If the motor is getting weak, then I can replace the motor. But, of course, the catch is if I replace the motor, and that doesn't fix it, then I have to buy a regulator which includes the motor.
So, do I take the chance and try the motor solution ($25 approx on eBay), or go all out and buy the regulator ($90 approx on eBay).
Any opinions?
Thanks.
